How it works

3 steps to a clear fix list.

  1. 1 Type your website Put your domain in the box at the top. Any public site works, even a competitor's.
  2. 2 Press Check my website Most reports open in 1 to 3 seconds. Google's speed scores follow a moment later.
  3. 3 Fix from the top Errors come first, then warnings. Each one says why it matters and how to fix it.

The basics

What is a website audit?

A website audit is a health check for your site. It reads your page the way Google does and lists everything that could stop it from ranking: missing tags, slow loading, blocked bots, broken security and more.

Our free audit reads your homepage in a few seconds. You get a score out of 100, a fix list sorted from worst to least bad, Google's own speed test, and the traffic and links behind the domain.

Every problem comes with 2 things: what it costs you, and the exact fix. You don't need to know SEO to use it. You can hand the report to your developer as it is.

What you get

  • A health score out of 100
  • A fix list, worst problems first
  • Google PageSpeed for phones and computers
  • A check of the 6 AI search bots
  • Traffic, Domain Trust and backlinks
  • A report you can share or save as a PDF

Inside the report

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

These are recordings of the real tool, on a real site.

One score for your site's health.

You get a number out of 100, plus a score for phones and computers. Errors cost the most points, then warnings, then notices. So the score goes up fastest when you fix what matters most.

Next to the score, each group of checks shows how many passed: on-page, technical, speed and mobile. You see at a glance where the work is.

  • A score out of 100
  • Phone and computer scores
  • Passed checks for each group

See if ChatGPT can read your site.

People now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude instead of searching. Those tools only quote pages their bots can read. If your robots.txt blocks them, you're invisible there.

We read your robots.txt, the file that tells bots what they may read, and check the 6 bots these tools use to find pages. You see each one marked blocked or allowed.

  • 6 AI search bots checked
  • Blocked or allowed, bot by bot
  • The exact rule to change

  • ChatGPT-User ChatGPT Blocked

Google's own speed test, built in.

We run Google PageSpeed for you, on a phone and on a computer. You see the same speed numbers Google uses when it ranks pages.

The report shows how fast the main content appears, how much the layout jumps around, and what slows the page down most.

Why it matters

Small problems cost you visitors.

Google reads your page before it ranks it. A missing title, a slow page or a blocked bot can hold you back. You'd never spot it just by looking at your site.

AI search works the same way. ChatGPT and Perplexity only quote pages they can read. If your site blocks them, they skip you.

Small problems add up. A page with 5 warnings often ranks below a page with none, even when its content is better.

A quick check finds these problems in seconds. Fix the errors first, then run the check again and watch your score go up.

1 error · 5 warnings · 3 notices

  • The page has no title tag

The title is the blue headline in Google. Without one, Google writes its own — usually worse.

  • The page loads slowly

Every extra second of load time loses visitors, and speed is a confirmed Google ranking factor.

  • AI search bots are blocked in robots.txt

ChatGPT search, Perplexity and Claude can't read your page, so they can't quote it or link to you in their answers.

Every check

32 checks, explained.

Pick any problem to see why it matters and how to fix it.

Your title and description are what people see in Google. We check that they exist, aren't too short or too long, and appear only once. We also check that images have alt text.

Your H1 is the main heading on the page. Google uses it to understand the topic. We check that there's exactly 1, that it isn't empty or too long, and that it isn't a copy of the title.

These checks answer one question: can Google find, read and index your page? Noindex tags, redirect chains, a missing sitemap or robots.txt can all get in the way.

Browsers warn visitors about pages that aren't secure, and Google prefers HTTPS. We check the page is served over HTTPS and doesn't load insecure files.

Slow pages lose visitors and rank lower. We time how long your page takes to load and check it's set up to fit phone screens.

We check that AI search bots can read your page, that it has social preview tags for links shared on X and other sites, and that it has a favicon.

How to fix it

Fix the most common problems yourself.

Step-by-step help for the issues we find most often. No developer needed for most of them.

Write a better title tag

Your title is the blue headline in Google. It's the strongest ranking signal you control.

  1. 1 Keep it between 50 and 60 characters so Google doesn't cut it off.
  2. 2 Put your main keyword near the start and your brand at the end.
  3. 3 Give every page its own title. No 2 pages should share one.
  4. 4 In WordPress, set it in the SEO title field of Yoast or Rank Math.

Add a meta description

This is the short text under your title in Google. A good one gets more clicks.

  1. 1 Write 120 to 160 characters that say what the page offers.
  2. 2 Use the words people search for. Google shows them in bold.
  3. 3 End with a reason to click, like a price, a benefit or a free trial.
  4. 4 Write a different one for each page.

Make the page fit phones

Without a viewport tag, phones show a tiny desktop page. Google ranks by the phone version.

  1. 1 Open your site's theme or template and find the <head> section.
  2. 2 Add the line below, or turn on your theme's mobile setting.
  3. 3 Open the page on your phone to check it fits the screen.
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">

Add alt text to images

Alt text tells Google and screen readers what an image shows. Images without it can't rank in image search.

  1. 1 Describe each image in a few plain words, like "red running shoes on a track".
  2. 2 Skip words like "image of". Just say what's in it.
  3. 3 For decorative images, leave the alt text empty on purpose.
  4. 4 In WordPress, fill the Alt Text field in the media library.

Speed up a slow page

Most slow pages are slow for the same few reasons. Fix these first.

  1. 1 Shrink big images. Save them as WebP and keep most under 200 KB.
  2. 2 Load images below the fold only when people scroll to them.
  3. 3 Remove plugins and scripts you don't use, like old chat widgets or trackers.
  4. 4 Turn on caching, and run the check again to see the change.

Let AI search bots in

If ChatGPT or Perplexity can't read your page, they can't quote it or link to you.

  1. 1 Open yourdomain.com/robots.txt in your browser.
  2. 2 Look for "Disallow: /" under OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User, Claude-SearchBot or Claude-User.
  3. 3 Delete those lines, or allow the bots as shown below.
  4. 4 Bots that only collect training data, like GPTBot, can stay blocked if you prefer.
User-agent: OAI-SearchBot Allow: /

Add an XML sitemap

A sitemap lists your pages so Google finds them faster, especially new ones.

  1. 1 In WordPress, Yoast or Rank Math makes one for you. Otherwise use a free sitemap generator.
  2. 2 Upload it so it opens at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.
  3. 3 Add the line below to your robots.txt.
  4. 4 Submit it in Google Search Console.
Sitemap: https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

Switch to HTTPS

Without HTTPS, browsers mark your site "Not secure". Visitors leave and Google ranks you lower.

  1. 1 Ask your host for a free SSL certificate. Most give one in a click.
  2. 2 Redirect every http:// address to https:// with a 301 redirect.
  3. 3 Change links, images and scripts on your pages to https:// too.
  4. 4 Run the check again to make sure nothing still loads over http.

Using your report

What to do with your report.

Fix the errors first

Red items hurt the most. A missing title, a blocked page or broken HTTPS comes before anything else. Fixing 1 error often moves your score more than fixing 5 notices.

Then clear the warnings

Long titles, missing descriptions, images without alt text. Each one takes minutes, and together they make a real difference.

Speed up the page

Shrink big images and cut heavy scripts. Google tests on a slow phone, so speed matters more than you'd think. Run the check again after each change.

Let AI search in

If your robots.txt blocks ChatGPT or Perplexity, remove that rule so they can read and quote you. It's a 2-minute fix with a big upside.

Share it with your team

Send a link to the report or save it as a PDF. Your developer gets the exact fix for every issue, so there's no back and forth.

Check again after you fix

Run it again to see your score go up. Once a month is enough for most sites, and after every big change to your site.

Size up your competitors

Run a competitor's site and compare. If their pages load faster or their titles are sharper, you'll see exactly where they're ahead.

Go deeper with the full audit

The free check reads 1 page. When you're ready, the full audit reads up to 100 pages and groups problems across your whole site.
